The planet is the vessel which we inhabit; within it, we are all citizens of the World.  Like a grain of sand in the desert, we are a part of something bigger and more powerful than just our individual selves. We are vessels filled throughout our lives by who we are, why we are and where we are. 

Our identities are complex and forever changing. When we experience different places our identities change - often in response to the variety of people we meet in those places

We, as cross-cultural kids, were born in a culture yet growing up in another. How does this change affect our identity? Also, living in a world where globalization is a dominant factor in how we view ourselves, have we lost a sense of ourselves and others amidst a worldwide population of c.7.843  billion people? 

We have a perspective and at times a shared understanding of our role and place as a global citizen looking outwards as part of the greater society, but do we ever stop and think about the importance of our individual contributions, however small?

To understand our place in the world, we first need to consider what makes us a collective of nations, and what we each contribute within that framework.

This studio is based around a central question: Who are we in the broader context of the world, and have we more in common than divides us?  

In this studio, we will, piece by piece, assemble our vessel, while seeing our partner’s process on the other side of the globe. Our goal: for each of you to create a vessel that describes an element of not just your place in the world, but also that of another with different lived experiences  that may be overlooked, unseen, or important to who you are today. We are all the sum of our cumulative  parts.

هوياتنا معقدة ومتغيرة إلى الأبد. عندما نختبر أماكن مختلفة تتغير هوياتنا - غالبًا استجابة لتنوع الأشخاص الذين نلتقي بهم في تلك الأماكن.

نحن ، كأطفال متعددي الثقافات ، ولدنا في ثقافة لكننا نشأنا في ثقافة أخرى. كيف يؤثر هذا التغيير على هويتنا؟ أيضًا ، بالعيش في عالم تكون فيه العولمة عاملاً مهيمناً في نظرتنا لأنفسنا ، هل فقدنا إحساسنا بأنفسنا والآخرين وسط عدد سكان عالمي يبلغ 7843 مليار شخص؟

لدينا منظور وفهم مشترك في بعض الأحيان لدورنا ومكانتنا كمواطن عالمي يتطلع إلى الخارج كجزء من المجتمع الأكبر ، ولكن هل نتوقف ونفكر في أهمية مساهماتنا الفردية ، مهما كانت صغيرة؟

لفهم مكانتنا في العالم ، نحتاج أولاً إلى التفكير في ما يجعلنا مجموعة من هذه الأمة الكبيرة ، وما يساهم به كل منا في هذا الإطار.

يعتمد هذا الاستوديو على سؤال مركزي: من نحن في السياق الأوسع للعالم ، وهل لدينا قواسم مشتركة أكثر مما تفرقنا؟

في هذا الاستوديو ، سنقوم ، قطعة قطعة ، بتجميع سفينتنا ، بينما نرى عمل شريكنا على الجانب الآخر من الكرة الأرضية. هدفنا: أن يقوم كل واحد منكم بإنشاءالسفينة الخاصة به حيث يصف عنصرًا ليس فقط عن مكاننا في العالم ، ولكن أيضًا عنصر آخر له تجارب معيشية مختلفة قد يتم التغاضي عنها أو عدم رؤيتها أو أهميتها بالنسبة لمن أنت عليه اليوم. نحن جميعًا مجموع أجزائنا التراكمية.
