3 precedents, Lucas and Sophie

Lucas Codona

The three precedents that we researched were:

Jeff Koons Balloon dogs model, we think the model means to use  materials other than plastic to make interesting things. Jeff Koons said it means ' the meaning of life' and it is 'eternally optimistic'. He used stainless steal to make the model and we think people might walk away confused as why something such as a balloon dog is worth 58.4 million pounds.

Bansky's peace street art, we think it means to try think that there will be peace somewhere wherever you are, even during conflict. the materials used were probably red and black spray paint, also maybe using a stencil. People might walk away thinking of peace but also thinking of  the many lives lost during  conflict.

The last piece of art is a giant mural in Glasgow by an artist called Smug. We think it means that even if someone or something looks grumpy or dirty on the outside may have a nice personality on the inside. The materials used were probably paint and a very big ladder! People could walk away feeling happy and giving.

Holly Hailstone

1: pavement waterfall art

  • To create an illusion of a cliff face/drop on a flat surface.
  • He probably used spray paint and possibly some oil pastels and maybe some chalk.
  • I think people should take away the thought that fear is just and illusion , just as the drop is an illusion.

2. GlasGlow grapes

  • To put nature into to life
  • Wires and led lights
  • You can pass it every day and it absent mindedly ignore it, but only when it is lit up, you will notice it.

Plastic bottles as water

  •  That we use more plastic than water.
  • plastic bottles and a tap.
  • To use less plastic in everyday life.

3 Precedents- Eilidh and Freya

The Wellington statue was made by an artist called Carlo Marochetti in 1844.

this statue is famous for having a cone on its head. The story behind this mysterious cone is actually very simple. He has a cone on his head because there was this drunk student who obviously thought it was amusing to put a cone on its head. The most common thought reason to why he put the cone on this statue out of all the statues in Glasgow was because its in the center of  Glasgow where everyone can see it. The night this happened the local police found out and went to take it off, but each night a cone got placed back on the head of the statue. The police put a thick podium underneath so they wouldn't be able to reach the head and climb up, the students somehow found a way to climb up.
